The Ancient king is dead, the continent of Arikania is poised upon the brink of war, a war unlike anything seen in centuries. Five Scion Nations were carved from the old empire, for the Ancient Kings Heirs, but now with his passing old feuds are rekindled and the five will go to war!
Wrath of Kings, a miniature tabletop wargame brought to you by Cool Mini or Not.
Now if you have been following our blog (if not, why the hell not?) you will know that Mr P and myself are quiet partial to this little game, and with the upcoming release of the new 2 player starter, we thought we would just give you all a glimpse of its goodness!
So lets begin with the rule book. A lavish hardback book that has been written like a novel, telling you the story of the Five Scions (think main families) and detailing the leaders and troops of each of these factions. The rules themselves only take up the first 22 pages! Because, as is becoming very popular these days, each unit has its own card which details all its stats and special rules. And that is something we really approve off! And everything is done on D10’s. Boom!
Now we have the 2player starter set about to hit the shelves, what’s in it? Lets have a look,
The Honor and Treachery: Battle for Ravenwood 2-Player Starter Box includes models for the Goritsi and Naiser factions, a quick start rule set, terrain templates, and unit cards. This box was designed as an inexpensive way for two players to begin playing Wrath of Kings, learn the rules, and start building their own forces.
The Wrath of Kings: Honor and Treachery 2-Player Starter Box is set to release in March 2016 and will retail for £49.99.
Honor and Treachery: Battle for Ravenwood contains:
- 15 High Quality Miniatures
- Quick Start Rule Book
- Unit Stat Cards
- Terrain Templates
The Nasier army consists of:
- 6 Rank 1 Infantry (Ashmen)
- 1 Rank 1 Leader (Ashman Hakar)
- 2 Rank 1 Specialists (Longhorn and Rathor)
The Goritsi army consists of:
- 3 Rank 2 Infantry (Skorza Skirmisher)
- 1 Rank 1 Leader (Skorza Alpha)
- 2 Rank 1 Specialists (Wrath of Kings – Scourge Hound and Shield Breaker)
Now that’s not a bad starting box, the House Goritsi (dirty great big Werewolves) are awesome figures that will be added straight to my army. And the House Nasier (which none of us have yet) Will end up being the start of yet another army for me! Wo-hoo!
As I said that is great value, and when you add one of the army box sets you have basically a full army! And we love those starting army boxes! What? How much do you get in them? You want a picture? Oh go on then!
So that’s the box I first got, more than enough to start playing with, a whole bunch of vampire ladies that dance and spring all over the place before they stab you to death! And lots of (my favourite figures) werewolves, and they are big buggers!
If you have not looked into Wrath of Kings yet, please go take a peek, you will be pleasantly surprised, and if you have the urge to see Mr P and myself having a scrap then go here
Until next time, keep away from them fishmen!
